This Black History Month, we're hosting a Black History Festival with our friends at Central Library and you are cordially invited to LIBRARY OUT LOUD.

Join us for a celebration of the arts. The Black History Month Festival, which focuses on the theme "Sentiments of Sankofa," will celebrate history, heritage, and the humanities through spoken word, stories, and songs.

Sentiments of Sankofa is an artistic response to Dr. Carter G. Woodson's call to revisit the contributions of African Americans. The interactive exhibition explores archival resources and the vital importance of Black cultural expression through the lens of Black Librarianship and the literary works of R. Gregory Christie.

The program will be held in two parts and double as an African American Read-In. Looking back at Dr. Jerrie Cobb's call to see ourselves in books, we have set forth to commemorate Black Authors. To ensure that Black voices and visions are heard, shared, and celebrated, we will shine a light on both literary luminaries and rising stars. The Rhythm & Rhymes ™ Read-In (11:00 AM—2:00 PM) will place an emphasis on Black children's book writers and illustrators while the Scribes & Vibes ™ Read-In (1:00 PM—4:00 PM) holds space for creators of fiction, creative nonfiction, and fine art.

Heeding to the aesthetics of the Blerd and the Beautiful, in the spirit of Black Nerdhood, Scribes & Vibes aspires to position its Pop-Up Storytime strategy to support the enhancement and advancement of Black Library Professionals and Educators. To paint the picture clearly, we’re here to celebrate diverse children's book titles beyond Black History Month and help raise funds for the educated and intelligent members of Black America.

Our outreach aim is to honor those that exhibit a passion for reaching reluctant readers while paying homage to the children's book writers and illustrators that draw attention to the unique characteristics of children and communities that are ohterwise underrepresented.

To celebrate diverse children's books and broaden one's horizons, our Pop-Up Storytime programs encompass both the mirror and window approach to cultural diversity. Through the Books Come In All Colors philosophy, our literacy advocates will bestow reader's advisory techniques upon the community and teach parents and caregivers how to make books come alive.

Heeding to the aesthetics of the New Negro Movement, Scribes & Vibes aspires to render a renewed sense of racial pride, cultural self-expression, economic independence, and progressive politics by providing an impregnable platform for underrepresented communities to voice their feelings, ideas, and concerns. Our open mic platform mixes social commentary with collaborative arts integration, to draw attention to community needs while increasing recreational reading and creative expression. Scribes & Vibes community-based arts programs offer an array of opportunities to help the marginalized color outside the lines in efforts to erase hate and breakdown color barriers. Long story short, we help you make your mark in a world that would otherwise paint a picture of you as invisible, voiceless, and undeserving.

Scribes & Vibes evolved on the ethos of "a safe space for the invisible to be seen and the voiceless to be heard is a well-deserved step for all walks of life." Scribes & Vibes has developed special events, storytimes, summer reading programs, art exhibits, author readings, book discussions, classes / informational programs, contests, movie programs, and/or musical programs to increase traffic and circulation at public libraries in Rockdale (Conyers, GA), DeKalb (Lithonia, GA, Stonecrest, GA, Decatur, GA), Pike (Zebulon, GA), and Henry (Locust Grove, GA) counties. The Scribes & Vibes LIBRARY OUT LOUD initiative is deeply rooted in sumpreme verve and the keen ability to secure talent, identify funding resources, and provide library assessment tools to foster goodwill for public library branches.

Scribes & Vibes specializes in crafting signature events for the following demographics:

We teach librarians and library support staff how to think beyond the books and utilize programming to reinforce the library as a community locale. LIBRARY OUT LOUD services include idea generation, program development, graphic design, advertising and marketing, and staff development. Our LIBRARY OUT LOUD Train the Trainer series is designed to help library professionals understand the power of programming and sharpen core competency skills; including highliting digital library collections, crafting instructional design for reference resources, and marketing and promotions for reader's advisory services.

Scribes & Vibes illustrates the arts from an economic perspective. To drive local economies, we steer community-based arts programs and public art initiatives that transform commercial districts into people-centered public spaces. Albeit, enhancing the physical and visual aesthetics of coffee houses with art exhibits and murals or accelerating access to performing, literary, and visual arts, we create an inclusive and inviting atmosphere by transforming public spaces into centers for the arts.

Derived from the notion of "We're brewing the arts at Starbucks Conyers," Scribes & Vibes aspires to position Scribes & Vibes at Starbucks Conyers as a financial tool for both the local arts scene and the Conyers business district. Our goal is to create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators while providing a platform for diverse communities to establish common ground.

To shine a light on Librarians and Local Musicians and exhibit the importance of arts-based learning, we'll be popping up at select locations with community-based arts programs and public art initiatives that draw attention to early childhood education. Albeit, emphasizing the rhythms and rhymes of language through music & movement and nursery rhymes or accelerating access to performing, literary, and visual arts, we create an inclusive and inviting multi-generational atmosphere by transforming public spaces into centers for the arts.

Derived from the notion of "We're bringing storytime to The World Wide Web," Scribes & Vibes aspires to position Rhythm & Rhymes Streaming Storytime as an early learning tool for both the local arts scene and literacy advocates. Our goal is to create a supportive environment for early learners and the local arts scene while providing a platform for diverse communities to establish common ground.
