‘F**k you Brooks Koepka!’ – Aaron Ekblad hits back at Brooks during Stanley Cup victory parade

Published

on

Back in March of 2023, Brooks Koepka went viral on social media while at a Florida Panthers hockey game. The 5-time major champion was heard and seen on video yelling at Panthers defenseman Aaron Eckblad.

A “traffic cone” in hockey is used as an insult for a player who just stands there, not defending his position.

After the Panthers 2024 Stanley Cup victory, Eckblad had the last laugh.

“F- -K YOU BROOKS KOEPKA”, Eckblad yelled at the championship celebration.

Koepka was supporting the “P’s” all throughout the 2024 playoffs, so I’m sure would trade Eckblad’s retort for the trophy his team ultimately won.

LIV Golf in talks with controversial former U.S. Open host course

Published

on

According to a report from the Tacoma News Tribune, LIV Golf is in talks with Chambers Bay as a potential host for the 2025 LIV Golf season.

Chambers Bay has a rich golf history. The course hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur, the 2015 U.S. Open and the 2021 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

While speaking with The News Tribune, Don Anderson, executive counsel to Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier, LIV is “very attractive” for the course.

“LIV has its own issues though, golf politics, world politics-wise. You have to be careful there. They throw a great party, though. 54 golfers, 54 holes, shotgun start. You generate $5 million or so in concession and merchandise sales. From that aspect, they’re very attractive. If they follow up with their indirect inquiry, we’ll listen”.

Chambers Bay has likely been holding out to see if they’d be green lit for another major championship first, which is yet to happen. The USGA has U.S. Open’s booked for the next 18 years, with Chambers not on the schedule.

They’d also be open to hosting a PGA Tour event, but finding sponsors is difficult.

“That would be tough,” Anderson said. “It’s a money issue. The PGA needs a title sponsor that comes up with 150 percent of the purse. That would be a 15-to-30-million-dollar sponsorship.”

Time will tell is Chambers Bay will be the next big course for LIV Golf.

Bryson offers lesson to Sauce Gardner after Jets’ star cornerback catches golf bug

Published

on

The New York Jets’ star cornerback, Sauce Gardner, has caught the golf bug.

The former fourth overall pick has been posting his golf swing on his X all week.

TaylorMade then took notice of Gardner’s sudden golf addiction and got him “dialed”.

The reigning U.S. Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau, also caught wind of Gardner’s newfound passion. With his massive following and growing YouTube channel, Bryson would be a logical fit to make some content with Sauce.

Sauce responded, saying “I think this is what the world wants”.

Hopefully, we can expect some YouTube content in the near future featuring Gardner and DeChambeau.

Lee Westwood takes aim at ‘young guys’ over pace of play during practice rounds

Published

on

Lee Westwood is playing on the senior circuit for the first time in his career this week at the U.S. Senior Open. The 50-year-old became eligible on his birthday last April when he turned 50.

Westwood enters the senior major championship in good form, finishing 3rd in his most recent start at LIV Nashville. While speaking prior to the event this week, the Englishman said he’s enjoying the atmosphere so far. He’s also enjoying the fact that the pace of play seems to be better with the older players.

“I’m looking forward to this week and looking forward to the first couple of rounds, playing with a couple of old friends, Miguel [Angel Jimenez] and Jerry Kelly.

“Practice rounds out here are way faster than everywhere else. It’s such a joy, and it’s so refreshing to play nine holes in two hours in a practice round. It’s incredible.

“If the old guys can do it, why can’t the young guys do it?”

Westy added that his game is in “very good shape.”

“I’m hitting the ball well, hitting it a long way. Putting’s good, which it has to be to contend in tournaments no matter where you play.”

Westwood will aim to become the second consecutive LIV player to win a senior major after Richard Bland won the Senior PGA Championship last month.
